The Waldhaus Reinbek: A history of hospitality

Every history has its beginning. Ours began in 1874 when the shooting club Reinbek was founded. On the site of today's Waldhaus there used to be an inn that provided food for the renowned shooters and city dwellers of Reinbek more than 100 years ago. In 1972 Christa and Dieter Schunke, the former tenants of the shooting club, bought the inn which by then was a historic building and thus, laid the foundation for the success concept of "genuine hospitality".

Due to several rennovation and extension measures, the former small inn became a well known destination far beyond the city boundaries of Reinbek and Hamburg, offering 100 seats and some few guest rooms. After a fire in 1992, the Waldhaus was reopened in new splendour as a 5-star-hotel in November 1995 – under the lead management of Christa and Dieter Schunke. Tradition and zeitgeist has been combined in a unique manner. The restaurant with its historic pavilion has always been the heart of the Waldhaus, reflecting the architecture of the original Waldhaus.

The Zirbelstube in the country house style, the Orangery with its Mediterranean flair and our open show kitchen make your stay an unforgettable experience. Hospitality at the highest level - that is what the Waldhaus Reinbek has always stood for - until today!
